SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2016

Add bulk file operations to your document libraries with this useful ZIP tool for SharePoint.

SharePoint Zip Extensions

What's this all about?

SharePoint doesn't offer ZIP functionality, and we wanted to fix that. So instead of releasing a bunch of individual 'ZIP' tools we decided to cram tons of value into one ultimate bulk file tool for SharePoint.

The result is SharePoint Zip Extensions: four of the most useful bulk document library features we could think of, packaged into an affordable SharePoint solution that you can have up and running in just a few minutes.

  1. Download as ZIP
  2. Importing/extracting ZIP files into SharePoint
  3. Send to a ZIP file within a document library (it's like "Send to compressed (zipped) folder" in Windows)
  4. Extracting a ZIP file directly within a document library

1. Download as ZIP

It's all in the ribbon

We've made the ZIP commands easy to find with a new ribbon group in your SharePoint document libraries.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy

Select one or more documents and folders and click Download as ZIP to compress the files into a ZIP archive and download them to your local computer.

2. Import ZIP files into SharePoint

SharePoint Zip Extensions Upload Document Menu

Now you can upload and extract ZIP files into any SharePoint document library

We extended SharePoint's Upload Document ribbon button so the function is easy to find.

SharePoint Zip Extensions Import Zip File Dialog

It's ridiculously easy

Simply select your ZIP file, click Import Now and… presto! The contents of your ZIP file will be extracted directly into the document library.

The folder structure from the ZIP is retained, so your documents and files will be populated into the library in their original folder hierarchy.

Plus there's a handy option to overwrite existing files in the library.

Import to sub-folders

You can also extract your ZIP file into a sub-folder within the document library, which gets created if it doesn't already exist.

3. Send to ZIP

SharePoint Zip Extensions - Send To Zipped Folder

Compress the selected documents and save them as a ZIP archive in the current document library

If you want to create a ZIP from files that are already in a SharePoint document library, use the Send to ZIP option.

It's like 'Send to compressed (zipped) folder' in Windows.

4. Extract ZIP

If you’ve already uploaded a ZIP file to a SharePoint document library you can use the Extract ZIP function to extract its contents into that library.
